10 Songs I can’t live without: Roadtrip edition

Like you already know, I’ve recently done a roadtrip around Norway for a few days. And I’m already planning my next one for next summer.

There’s no feeling like the one you get, when you drive down a street through the most beautiful landscape with your best friends (or alone) listening to music that instantly erases all your emotions and stress and just let’s you be in the moment. These are some of those songs.

#1 Arcade Fire – Ready to Start

Arcade Fire is iconic. If you’ve ever seen them live, you know what I’m talking about. But not only their live show, also their songs are great and worth listening to – especially on the road.

#2 Mogli – Wanderer

You might know the documentary “Expedition Happiness” (it’s on Netflix, at least in Germany) where a couple travels through North and South America in a converted school bus with their dog. This is song from the soundtrack (and by the talented girl in the documentary) and I feel like it’s kind of THE soundtrack for roadtrips. Isn’t it?

#3 Angus & Julia Stone – Paper Aeroplane

Angus and Julia Stone has been mentioned in this list before. When listening to their music, I instantly get transported back 8 years to when I was traveling Australia. Not only because that’s when I was introduced to their music but also because their songs are so peaceful and harmonic – perfect for a day at the beach.

#4 Train – Drops of Jupiter

When I went on my around the world trip I was obviously a bit nervous. Before I left a friend sent me this song and said for her it was the perfect travel song. And ever since it is for me as well.

#5 Jamie xx – Loud Places

Have I mentioned this song in one of those lists before? I don’t know. Do I care? No, not really. Just because it’s so good.

#6 James Bay – Pink Lemonade

In my opinion, his new album is perfection. All of the songs are. But this one in particular. Happy mood on.

#7 The Kooks – Seaside

This doesn’t really need explanation. Also, after seeing them live for the first time this year, it just had to be added to the list.

#8 Philipp Poisel – Im Garten von Gettis

This is for the Germans especially. It’s still a great song, but when you understand the lyrics, this song gets even better. My favourite line? “There are many times in life, but these are the good ones”. Life Motto, right?

#9 Jain – Alright

This is quite a new song but it just makes me happy and that’s the main emotion you should feel when being on the road.

#10 Tracy Chapman – Fast Car

No remix, just the plain old Tracy Chapman hit. Wonderful.

10 Songs I can’t live without – Coachella Edition

Coachella is just around the corner. I, myself, don’t really care about it and it’s not really on my bucket list of MUST DO things on this planet, but I know it is for many of you. And I also think that the acts performing at it are definitely some very talented people that I love listening to. That is why I decided to make a new 10 songs I can’t live without Special Edition: The Coachella Edition.

#1 SZA – The Weekend

I already introduced you to one of her songs (Love Galore with Travis Scott) on my last 10 songs post and since I didn’t want to repeat myself, here’s another one of her songs. She’s definitely one of the best new R&B artists out there!

#2 Léon – Tired of Talking

This is actually the third time that you can find Léon on my blog. But she is just too amazing and talented. Can’t wait to see her live at one point!

#3 Alt-J – Taro

Choosing one of there songs was probably one of the hardest things. I am just in love with their music. It’s so soothing and energetic at the same time. I can’t explain it but it instantly makes me melancholic and happy at once.

#4 Tash Sultana – Notion

Another talented young woman that you might have seen on my blog today. Whenever I listen to her songs or watch her perform, I’m always in complete awe. How can someone be so freaking talented?

#5 First Aid Kit – My Silver Lining

I’ve seen the two sisters of First Aid Kit at Southside Festival before and they are just wonderful. They reminded me of Julia Stone on stage, so graceful and hippie-esque, floating around as if it was not hard or stressful at all.

#6 HAIM – We want you back

I have a very mixed taste in music. This is a good example of that. But I’m proud of it.

#7 Vance Joy – Call if you need me

I just saw Vance Joy live in Munich 2 weeks ago and whenever I listen to his music, I am transported back to the most amazing time I got to spend in Australia. So it’s a little bitter sweet, but it doesn’t make his music any less great!

#8 Ibeyi – River

Oh Ibeyi ❤

#9 Jacob Banks  – Chainsmoking

I shared his music in my last post as well, but that doesn’t stop me to do it again. Because, I mean, that voice!

#10 Beyonce – Hold up

Okay, Queen B has to be on this list. And I could post her whole Lemonade video here, but I’ll just leave you with one of the amazing songs on that album.

P.S.: Well, this was harder than I though. There are still so many amazing artists missing! But I guess 10 it is for now.

10 Songs I can’t live without: Part V

It’s time again – my February (or all time) favourites are here! Happy listening.

#1 Nick Mulvey – Unconditional

I always think about summer and the beach when I listen to Nick Mulvey. And about that incredible, intimate concert of his in Hamburg a couple of years ago. If you ever have the chance to go see him – do it!

#2 Mighty Oaks – All I need

#3 Angus and Julia Stone – For you

When I listen to that song I can’t really decide if I am deeply happy because of how beautiful Angus&Julia Stone’s music is or if I just want to crawl into my bed and cry all day. So many emotions.

#4 Kings of Convenience – Misread

Hey, Kings of Convenience, a new album would be nice!

#5 Vance Joy – Like Gold

A little tip: Vance Joy is on tour soon, so go check him out live! That reminds me.. I need to get the tickets as well.

#6 Jacob Banks – Unknown

Another artist I’ve been introduced to by a friend. And I’ll be forever grateful for that.

#7 SZA, Travis Scott – Love Galore

This is to congratulate you to the baby, Travis Scott. And to bring a bit of HipHop into that list.

#8 Miguel – Skywalker

Just when I googled this it’s another Travis Scott influenced song. Not intentionally, but okay. I just love this song.

#9 Wombats – Turn

A NEW WOMBATS ALBUM and life is complete. I literally feel like a teenager again when I listen to their songs. Is that only me?

#10 Matt Corby – Brother

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this song in my Story already. It’s just on of my all time favourites and I listen to it way too rarely, which is due to the fact that it’s not on Spotify. Get it on there please?

10 songs I can’t live without: Christmas Edition

It’s this time of the year again: Cookies, Candles and lots of cozy nights inside. And what’s more fitting than a few Christmas songs I love to kick off that season?

#1 Mariah Carey – All I want for christmas is you

#2 Train – Shake up Christmas

#3 Kate Winslet – What if

#4 Sia – Santa’s coming For Us

She has a whole christmas album out – so excited for it!

#5 Christina Aguilera – Oh holy night

#6 Coldplay – Christmas Lights

#7 Do they know it’s Christmas – Band Aid

#8 Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley

Not a real Christmas Song but it definitely sets the mood.

#9 Foy Vance – Guiding Light

Technically this is not a christmas song but it gives me that feeling every time I hear it so I just added it – rebel me.

#10 John Lennon – Happy Xmas (War is over)

A classic for sure.
